Assess your state
As 2019 draws to a close, it seems like a perfect time to assess where you stand at the end of this year, and get your priorities clarified for the next year.
Just like a dashboard in your car shows you the current state of your vehicle, you can use a symbolic dashboard to understand how well you are doing in four main areas of your life: health, work, play and relationships. The image of the dashboard comes from Designing Your Life by B. Burnett and D. Evans – the book that we will be reading in January 2020!
HOW TO: Try this short yoga practice to get a better idea of how you are doing right now. This practice will help you see in which areas you are thriving and in which ones you are lacking, and will encourage you to come up with steps to make you feel more fulfilled. Use an image of a dashboard below to reflect visually how fulfilled you are in each of four areas.
Dear Olga, I’ve enjoyed this meditation. I’ve also incorporated it in my classes. But instead of doing all in one go, I thought it better to split it into the four domains, one a week. I have 90-minutes classes so I created asana practices to help the reflection on a particular domain before going into meditation at the end. I did a more complete all-body practice for the health part. I focused on easy balance poses for work and more challenging ones for play.
