Anchor in the moment
We live in very uncertain times and the situation is evolving rapidly all around the world. This can be very disorienting and unsettling. Now more then ever we need to stay present and centered. There are three simple ways to accomplish that in yoga: balancing yoga poses help focus your mind, extended exhalation pranayama helps to calm the nervous system down, and awareness of sensory feedback helps to anchor attention in the body and the present moment.
This week try to manage your mental state with yoga practice.
HOW TO: Try this practice to anchor yourself in your body and in the present moment. You can mix and match parts of this practice as you see fit: movement + breathing, movement + meditation, breathing + meditation, just breathing or just meditation.
It’s a mantra I teach regularly and I practice it too. Uncanny, two weeks ago, I have made my very first home video to help my practitioners in this difficult times using that mantra, since we had practiced it before the classes got cancelled and we all got confined.
