Daily Five: Essential yoga moves to stay strong and healthy
We all know that we need to move and strengthen our bodies every day, but some days, we get busy or feel uninspired. For days like these, it is great to have a routine that reliably makes you feel strong and capable but also doesn’t require too much thought or preparation.
The five familiar yoga moves in this routine are simple but powerful; they are essential for maintaining a strong, healthy body and a focused mind at any age. This short practice strengthens your body from head to toe and stabilizes your energy. It is best to do each movement for at least one minute with rest breaks in between. If you do not have time or energy to do much else on any given day, do these five moves, and your body will thank you. On the days when you feel more adventurous, you can hold dumbells in the Chair pose (without raising the arms) and lunge pose to strengthen your body even more. If you use additional weight, the form becomes even more important, so make sure that you engage your abdomen for support throughout the practice.
