Set a date with yourself
Sometimes we wear our “busy-ness” as a badge of honor, but constantly moving from one thing to the next can rob us off our ability to play, create or simply think. So this week set aside some time to slow down and have a date with yourself.
HOW-TO: Look at your calendar and schedule an hour some time during the week for a Date with Yourself. Please take it seriously. When the time comes, start the hour by sitting quietly, closing you eyes and asking yourself what kind of activity would nourish your soul. It can be a creative pursuit, or some quiet time to just sit and think about where you are and where you are going, you can have tea, write in your journal or read an interesting book, taking time to reflect on what you are reading. Whatever it is that you are drawn to and that makes you feel warm and fuzzy inside, do it for the next hour without guilt. Afterwards notice how it affects your state of mind for the rest of the day.
