You can watch the series on any device from anywhere in the world, as long as you have internet access
Each chapter includes a brief summary of the most important ideas about each physiological system
Every practice is accompanied with a printable sequence with images and instructions in pdf format
You can ask your questions about the course any time – your teacher is always ready to help
1. Feel devitalized and disconnected from your body;
2. Notice that the same physiological issues keep showing up again and again;
2. Lost a sense of trust in your body;
3. Want to live your life more attuned to your internal and external rhythms;
4. Looking to develop a better theoretical understanding and intuitive awareness of what’s going on “under the hood,” within your body
5. Want to use yoga to affect your physiological processes (bone health, lung capacity, digestion, heart health, and immunity)
Asana (yoga postures) is considered a secondary tool when working with physiology. Breath and attention are the primary tools. Be sure to focus on those rather than the intricate details of the poses.
Our bodies constantly send us signals about the state of their internal balance. They try to communicate with us, but we rarely listen. We are so focused on the external environment that we tend to ignore our inner state until it complains loud enough through pain, physiological distress, or mental anguish. Instead of letting things fester and get out of hand, let’s learn to listen to our body’s signals by developing our interoception (conscious awareness of what’s happening inside).
In this yoga series, we will explore every layer of our physiology: skeletal, respiratory, digestive, immune, cardiovascular, and nervous systems, to develop a better theoretical understanding and intuitive awareness of what’s happening within your body.
We will discuss the major players (organs and tissues) within each physiological system and their function. We will also highlight what can go wrong and how we can try to prevent it with the choices we make.
We will follow the movement of energy throughout the system to observe common themes between different physiological systems and the patterns of imbalance to see the full picture.
We will analyze how your inborn constitution affects your predisposition to certain diseases and imbalances and the actions you can take to correct the imbalances and live a life that’s more attuned to your natural rhythms.
In this yoga series, you will learn how to tune into your physiology and learn to better interpret its signals. You will use different yogic tools to bring energy and attention to different layers of your system, help you better understand your current issues, and move you toward restoring your inner equilibrium.
This series consists of twelve chapters. Each chapter introduces a specific physiological system, describes how it works, and suggests the yogic tools we can see to affect it. Each chapter includes an introductory video and several yoga practices that illustrate the points that we’ve discussed. Each chapter also features several in-depth articles on the topic. We put all those articles together into a handy 140-page pdf file to give you a fuller picture of how your body works, and how you can take care of it with your yoga practice.
You can do the practices included in this series in order, or pick and choose the ones you need most. In each yoga practice we will use movement, breath, and awareness to help you become more attuned to different layers of your body. Be sure to follow instructions on what to do with your breath and where to place your attention– those subtle details help you get better access to your physiology.
When you follow the videos, please be sure to pay attention to small details and specific instructions—in yoga how you do movements is just as important as what you do. You will also need to move with your breath and pay attention to how your breathing feels throughout your practice. Try to stay present with your experience and never force your breath beyond your capacity. And if you experience discomfort while attempting any movement—stop, evaluate, skip it for the time being, and rest in a comfortable position for few breaths before you continue. You can try it again next time and see if your sensations change.
Try to approach this series as an opportunity to connect to your body, to be patient with it, and to care for it. It’s the only one you have, so it’s wise to treat it with respect and appreciation.
Hi there! My name is Olga Kabel. I’ve been practicing and teaching yoga for almost two decades. Over this period of time, as yoga had carried me over life’s peaks and valleys, I came to realize that yoga to me is not about achieving a particular physique, but more about how I handle life’s challenges, big and small, that get thrown my way. It is also about finding joy and contentment in everyday moments. To me, yoga is not just a thing to do, but a place to be—it’s a state of feeling more centered, more awake, and more aware of my experiences. This is why I practice yoga, and this is how I teach it. This is why I’ve made yoga both my profession and a way of life.
I don’t want you to miss out on the full potential of what yoga has to offer. Regular yoga practice has the power to transform any area of your life for the better. One thing that’s always fascinated me about yoga is its ability to affect change. We all know change is inevitable—our bodies and our lives go through it every single day. We cannot stop change (no matter how hard we try), but through our yoga practice, we can affect the direction of change. This redirection doesn’t need to be dramatic—even the slightest one will set you on an entirely new course. And this can show up in any area of your life, whether it’s your health, your work, your relationships, or your experiences of joy and contentment.
Thank you for bringing such depth, knowledge and kindness to yoga! I am so happy to discover you. I’ve been looking for a teacher who takes me into a deeper somatic awareness and you sure did! I really appreciate your novel moves, calming voice and deep breathing. Absolutely wonderful!
Having done this sequence a couple of times the practice really starts to grow on me, feeling more whole and centred at the end. I like that in a short space of time all these different energy paths are being touched and subsequently energised, getting a ‘workout’ in a gentle way. So pleased I have ‘found’ you and can access your teachings. Thank you
Olga, thanks so much for this wonderful gift to us! As usual your knowledge, insight , and guidance is treasured.💫🌟
