Train your balance with three-directional challenge
/
Comments2
When our balance is challenged, we want to be able to recover it quickly, regardless of where the challenge came from: the front, the side, or the back. However, during our balance training, it helps to work with each of those directions separately to ensure that we are adequately prepared for any challenge.
In this short, simple yoga practice, we attempt to balance on one leg while holding the other leg first in front, then behind, and later to the side of the body. This type of simple challenge is helpful for overall structural integration, coordination between different muscle groups, and improving our awareness of the body’s position in space. All of these factors are essential for balance training. Give it a try and see how it feels!
Dear Olga,
I briefly introduced myself to you at the IOYT conference near D.C. last June. I just spent quite a bit of time with your Train Your Balance with Three-Directional Challenge post from May 26. When I learn from you I am humbled and grateful to you. Thank you for being such a generous and fine teacher for me.
I wish you and yours a glorious summer. Namaste,
Hi, Pam, it’s so great to hear from you! Thank you for your kind words about my practices 🙂 Are you planning to come to SYTAR this year? If so, please stop by our table and say hello! I would love to chat.
