Travel yoga: Release tension in your upper body
Traveling can take a toll on your body. After sitting in static positions for long periods of time, hauling luggage, and sleeping on unfamiliar mattresses, physical stiffness can prevent you from enjoying your exciting vacation spots. Doing a short movement practice in the morning can help you limber up and get ready for your day of adventure.
Not all locations on your journey will be mat-friendly. Some hotel rooms are so small that you inevitably bump into walls and furniture. This short yoga practice is done entirely in a standing position at the foot of the bed, a spot that usually allows just enough space for this type of movement. The bed can serve as a handy prop, as well. This very simple practice helps you work out the kinks in your upper back, neck, and shoulders. All movements in this practice are self-contained, meaning that you can start at any point of the practice and stop at any point as well. You can also rearrange them any way you like.
Please give it a try and see how your upper back feels afterward!
